Bald Eagle Found Shot Dead In Pennsylvania

CBS News reports that a bald eagle was found shot dead in Erie County, Pennsylvania, according the the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Officials are now searching for the gunman responsible.

They say that according to the commissions Facebook page, the bald eagle was found Thursday night.

CBS says the state game warden determined it had been shot and is investigating the incident.

They say that the commission is asking for help from the public to find the gunman who killed the eagle near Hope Cemetery in the Elk Creek Township.

Bald Eagles are the poster species for the Endangered Species Act and are protected by state statutes and a federal law passed by Congress in 1940 that makes it illegal to kill a bald eagle.
