A commercial big rig that overturned on eastbound I-80 at the Spaghetti Bowl on May 4 was filled with canned enchilada sauce.

It happened the day before Cinco De Mayo near the Wells Avenue exit. The exit ramp to I-580 southbound, northbound US-395 and eastbound I-80 were closed for hours. Traffic backed up all the way to Mogul.

Authorities said nine people were taken to the hospital, but only one of them had critical injuries. One person had to be extricated from their car using the jaws of life, but their injuries were non-life threatening.

Our crew on scene reported at least seven cars were involved in the crash. Witnesses said the crash was not caused by the big rig, but it was a chain reaction crash.

The Nevada Highway Patrol, Reno Fire Department and REMSA all responded to the scene. Officials urged drivers going westbound to pay attention to the road, since several drivers were reported taking pictures and videos.

All roads have since reopened.
