Brunch Business on Easter Sunday

While there could be snow in the Truckee Meadows on Monday, it was a beautiful day on Easter Sunday.

Many families enjoyed activities like brunch, church or Easter egg hunts.

The Stone House Cafe in Reno saw a line of customers all morning and the restaurant was even completely booked for reservations.

Cyrina Abowd, owner of the Stone House Cafe, says every year the restaurant does their best to prepare for people to celebrate the holiday at their restaurant.

“We do have 128 extra seats outside, so the flow usually goes quite well, but Easter is a family day so quite often its large parties,” says Abowd.

Over the years, Abowd has also noticed that many of her guests come in from out of town.

"We do get quite a few customers from the hotels, we have concierges that call throughout the week making reservations for people as guests, they don't always go out for the brunches, they prefer to come out and support us local businesses," says Abowd.

She says every year on Easter the restaurant also stocks up on staff and creates a slimmed down holiday menu to tailor to the large crowds.

For many families who eat at Stone House Cafe on Easter, brunch is only the start to a long eventful day.

"I ask them what are you going to do today, and they're going to go downtown and walk along the river, go to Tahoe, we have such a great venue for family activities," says Abowd.
