A robbery and burglary suspect robbed an Oroville, California, 7-Eleven Mini Mart of beer and assaulted the store clerk in the process before heading across the street in an attempt to burglarize another establishment and setting out on foot into a wooded area before a K9 was sent to capture the suspect.
Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) responded to a robbery report at the 7-Eleven Mini Mart located a 2125 Monte Vista Ave. in Oroville.Â
BCSOÂ says deputies were told a subject came into the store and attempted to steal beer, but when the subject was confronted by the store clerk he assaulted the clerk and stole the beer.Â
At this point it is told deputies were given a description, but were unable to locate the described subject.Â
Half an hour after the 7-Eleven Mini Mart was robbed, Butte County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to an in-progress burglary across the street from the 7-Eleven Mini Mart.Â
BCSO says the description of the subject from the in-progress burglary was similar to the description from the earlier robbery.Â
It is told a deputy along with his K9 partner arrived on scene where they were met with the subject of both the robbery and the burglary who is identified as Thomas Remy, 50, from Chico, California.
BCSOÂ says Remy matched both descriptions from the robbery at the 7-Eleven and the burglary from across the street where deputies identified the suspect.Â
BCSOÂ says the subject, Remy would not comply with orders from the deputy to submit to his orders, and rather pulled a glass beer bottle from a bag an advanced toward the Butte County deputy, who then deployed a taser on Remy which had no effect on him.Â
Remy then ran away from the deputy and into a wooded area.
The Butte County deputy then gave chase to Remy in the wooded area by his K9, Chico.
BCSOÂ says Remy ran down a steep embankment, jumped a barbed wire fence and would still not comply with orders once he was located.Â
Chico was then sent to apprehend Remy on the opposite side of the fence where he was then taken into custody after resisting arrest.Â
BCSO says Remy was taken to Oroville Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, and once he is released, Remy will be booked on charges of resisting arrest with violence, resisting arrest, robbery and burglary. Remy's bail is set at $83,000.
