California Man Dies After Rollover Crash Along I-80 Near Donner Lake

A California man died when his car went down a steep embankment and rolled over along I-80 east near Donner Lake Road.

California Highway Patrol says the unidentified 39-year-old Penn Valley man was found early Wednesday morning after his silver 2007 Toyota Corolla went off the south edge of I-80 west of Donner Lake, hit a light pole, went down a steep embankment and rolled over.

CHP says even though the man was wearing a seat belt, he died.

CHP says it was contacted by Caltrans workers who found the crash site before 8 a.m.

Since there were no witnesses, CHP doesn't have an approximate time of when the crash happened.

Authorities also don't know if drugs and/or alcohol were involved.

If you have any information that can help with this investigation, you're asked to call Officer G. Graham at the Truckee CHP area office at 530-563-9200.
