Caltrans is making improvements on eight bridges in El Dorado, Nevada and Placer Counties.
The $3.6 million project is funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
“This project will help maintain eight bridges throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains, many of which link travelers to recreational destinations,” said Caltrans Director Laurie Berman. “We are able to fill potholes and resurface the bridge pavement now due to SB 1 funds, instead of waiting until costly major repairs are required.”
Five bridges are located on Interstate 80 west of Donner Summit.
Safety improvements are also being made to the aging and deteriorating Prosser Creek Bridge on State Route 89 west of Truckee, Slacks Ravine Bridge west of Grass Valley on SR- 20, and the Mosquito Road undercrossing on U.S. Highway 50 in Placerville.
