A new study found pregnancy-related death rates are rising in the U.S. Researchers at the CDC believe the rise in mortality is associated with mothers who delayed having a baby. Conditions associated with older pregnant women include: heart problems, chronic high blood pressure and diabetes.

That's because smog can make heart conditions worse and contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease. The study in the European Heart Journal says air pollution causes more than 3-million deaths each year.

And there's a new warning about the health risks from bisphenol A. The chemical - also known as BPA - is used to line cans and plastic bottles and can leech into foods and drinks. A study in the journal Hypertension finds that BPA can increase blood pressure, raising the risk of cardiovascular disease.
