From the Food Bank of Northern Nevada:
CANstruction 2015 officially came to close today with the De-CANstructing of the eleven structures at Meadowood Mall. The 21,694 cans were loaded into bins by volunteers to be taken to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and will be distributed to those who need them. One out of every five of our northern Nevada neighbors are in need of emergency food assistance and CANstruction is one of the events that helps to meet that need.
Throughout the weekend, the public got their chance to vote for their favorite structure and the winner has been announced. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada would like to congratulate “Give S'more to the Food Bank” by Depoali Middle School, designed by Max Hershenow for winning the People's Choice Award. The people's choice award generated another 786 meals for those in need.
