All Carson City School District after-school activities including student programs and practices are canceled today, January 10, 2024.
This includes Capital Kids and all athletic practices, clubs, academic programming and/or sports contest/scrimmages. Boys & Girls Club will remain open in the evening, but parents are asked to pick up their kids as early as possible.
School buses will operate on the regular release schedule in the afternoon. If you normally pick up your child after school, be there promptly at their dismissal. All activities in or outside of all school and district buildings are canceled this evening. The buildings and parking areas will be closed to ensure successful snow removal.
Additionally, with Thursday morning's temperature forecast to be 14 degrees at 7 a.m., it is expected that any accumulation received throughout the evening may create icy and treacherous driving conditions. Therefore, all Carson City School District schools will observe a delayed 2-hour schedule Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Buses will operate on a 2-hour delay, so arrival times will be approximately 2-hours later than usual. There will be no Pre-School and Early Childhood classes or breakfast served at school Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024.
TMCC is closing physical locations at 3:30 p.m. All classes and services will operate remotely after 3:30 p.m. Regular in-person classes and services will resume once physical locations are open on Thursday unless otherwise announced.
UNR Wintermester classes beginning at 3 p.m. or later on Wednesday, Jan. 10 have been canceled. All non-essential operations will be suspended at this time as well. All non-essential University of Nevada, Reno employees are permitted to leave campus at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 10. This applies to all University facilities in Washoe County, Douglas County, Incline Village and Carson City. University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe’s Master of Fine Arts programs will continue as scheduled.

January 10 is a snow day for Washoe County School District schools in Incline Village. All Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) and Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) schools are also declaring canceling classes.
This means that all classes, activities, and events are canceled.
The decision to close TTUSD and LTUSD schools was based on forecasted snowfall.
Similarly, WCSD announced the closure of Incline Village schools due to hazardous road and weather conditions.
Parents and guardians should plan accordingly.
Meanwhile, some non-essential operations are suspended at the UNR Lake Tahoe location.
The University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe location has suspended all non-essential operations and offices today, January 10, 2024.❄️ However, MFA programs will continue as scheduled. Essential services, including the dining hall, will continue.
