The Carson City School District and Board of Trustees is honoring a bus driver with the Carson City School District after he saved the life of a student.
They said Greg Hoeger alerted a student of a car illegally passing the bus as it was stopped. Hoeger successfully warned the student of the oncoming vehicle as they were getting off by honking the horn.
Kimberly Ponczoch, mother of the saved student, witnessed the incident and contacted Superintendent Richard Stokes.
Both Ponczoch and Stokes agreed that Hoeger's actions deserved public acknowledgment. Stokes presented him with a certificate of merit on Tuesday night.
This comes after the Carson City Sheriff's Office indicated a more hyper-focused effort in targeting bad drivers and pedestrians in November.
