Carson Deputies Arrest Man Accused in Stabbing

Carson City Sheriff's Deputies tell Channel 2 News they have arrested 32-year-old Maxwell Thomas Scott Simon Friday morning after they say he stabbed a man at the Wiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East in Carson City.

Deputies say they received a call just after midnight stating someone had been stabbed in the parking lot of the bar. Deputies tell us when they arrived on scene they found 28-year-old Jaime Lee Rodriquez suffering from a stab wound to his back. Rodriquez was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight where he has since been released.

Investigators say witnesses reported seeing Simon fleeing the area in a vehicle toward Lyon County. Deputies from the Tri-County Gang Unit located Simon at the Bunny Ranch in Lyon County just before 2 a.m..  He was taken into custody without further incident.

Sheriff Ken Furlong says detectives remain active on this case. However, he says the two men involved were intoxicated and unruly at the Wiskey Tavern and both were asked to leave. He says both left the bar, but confronted each other in the parking lot a short time later, where the fight broke out and Rodriquez was stabbed.

Simon is being held in the Carson City Jail on $30,000 bail.
