Staff and volunteers with Catholic Charities & the St. Vincent’s Programs distributed stockings and gifts to local children at their 12th annual “Operation Stocking Stuffer” party.

“Operation Stocking Stuffer” was held on Sunday, December 18 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the St. Vincent’s Dining Room at 325 Valley Road.

About 550 Christmas stockings stuffed full of toys, games, toiletries, and sweets, all of which were donated and assembled by generous members of the northern Nevada community, were distributed to local children from infants up to 17 years old.

In addition to the stockings, the holiday carnival included a visit with Santa Claus, face painting, gingerbread cookie decorating, holiday arts and crafts, baked goods from our St. Vincent’s Dining Room, carnival games from Circus Circus, and holiday music.

Next week, they will be delivering additional stockings to rural food pantries in outlying Nevada communities, such as Elko, Winnemucca, Hawthorne and Gerlach.
