High Sierra Industries, a non-profit that works with people with disabilities, says their facility was vandalized and burglarized over the weekend.
The organization is hoping police will find the thieves who stole from their construction site, cutting through fences and destroying property.
"The trucks were vandalized, window broken, the tool boxes inside the truck were essentially forced open and all the tools stolen," said LaVonne Brooks, the President and CEO of HSI.
The thieves made off with more than $12,000 worth of equipment and materials, along with copper tubing from the building. HSI says it's a setback for the organization. The construction is planned for the non-profit to expand their services for adults with developmental and physical disabilities.
"It's really a sad thing to steal from people, our non-profit, who serves people with disabilities. I mean, come on, it's just the worst kind of crime," said Brooks.

Secret Witness is offering a reward, the amount to be determined, for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) wanted in connection with the commercial burglary of the High Sierra Industries.
The non-profit is now looking for a way to better secure the area to prevent future thefts.
