North Lyon County fire crews say illegal fireworks are to blame for a blaze in Fernley on Tuesday night. An active investigation is underway to find who is responsible.
The three-acre fire sparked at Inglewood Drive near Pioneer Crossing. A professional fireworks display was set up nearby, crews say residents in that area were using illegal fireworks.
One home and a casino were evacuated due to smoke. Multiple homes in that area are unoccupied.
No structures are damaged.Â
North Lyon County, Central Lyon County, Storey County and Fallon/Churchill fire units helped knock down the fire.
Scott Huntley, District Chief of the North Lyon County Fire Protection District says, "Any individual in possession of illegal fireworks or caught using illegal fireworks will be dealt with all capabilities."
