Damonte Ranch High School is replacing the turf on the football field.
The school had to replace an old sprinkler system under the field which increased the cost of the project.
We spoke with the Jeff Thiede, the athletic director for Damonte Ranch and he says that this replacement is all about student safety.
"We get it tested every year and it was nearing the end of its duration and so they came out an evaluated it and determined that as a regional facility we needed to replace it."
According to Thiede, this project cost about $1.5 million.
