Reno's downtown ice rink is back in business a few blocks northwest of the old location at Greater Nevada Field. This season, it's at 6th and Sierra Streets.

"It's going to be a well-lit area so everyone is going to be able to see it," said Tony Marini, VP of Operations with THE ROW. "We're going to partner with Circus Circus and our midway so you have two things feeding off each other. So come down, bring the kids, check out the midway and go ice skating. The weather is phenomenal; come down and have a great Christmas time in Downtown Reno."

In addition to the 9,000-square-foot rink, there's a skate shop, concession stand and fire pit.

"We have a food and beverage opportunity out here and on the weekends, we're going to have food trucks," Marini said. "So everyone will have the change to take advantage of the food trucks, ice skate, and maybe check out the midway or our food court. There's something for everybody."

The Rink at THE ROW is open every day and the hope is this will become a downtown tradition.

"I'm hoping we keep it every year," Marini said. "We're going to try and keep the ice until the end of February and give everybody a chance to skate. I hope we continue this; we have the infrastructure now so I'm, looking forward to years to come."

Ice rink provider, Ice-America, who also built The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, installed thousands of feet of freezing coils to create an 8-inch thick ice. To maintain its chill, the City of Reno has leased to THE ROW a 400 ton chiller and new electrical service was installed to support it as well as other ice rink electrical needs.

Operating hours are Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Hours are subject to change and may vary based on special events, holidays, weather or other factors.

Pricing includes skate rental and will start at $12 for children up to 12 and adults $15, Monday through Thursday, and $15 for children and $18 for adults, Friday through Sunday. Discounts are available for seniors, military and college students. Guests who bring their own ice skates will save $2. Rink at THE ROW will also have skating aids available to rent.
