Duo Arrested in Connection With Crash That Killed Bicyclist in Washoe Valley |

Authorities say two people are behind bars in connection with a crash that killed a bicyclist on US-395A in Washoe Valley in June.

Irma Arellano-Arroyo and Guadalupe Garcia-Davalos were both arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail on several charges.

NHP says a silver 2015 Ford Edge was heading south on US-395A when it crossed the double yellow line and went into the southbound lanes hitting 38-year-old Boryana Straubel, who was in the designated bike lane.

The Washoe Valley resident died on scene.

During the preliminary scene investigation, NHP says Arellano-Arroyo told troopers she was driving the Ford Edge at the time of the collision. They also say Garcia-Davalos told troopers he was asleep in the front passenger seat at the time of the collision.

During the investigation, the Nevada Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) said some information they got raised concerns regarding the incident. On July 1, 2021, MIRT investigators requested assistance from the Nevada DPS Investigation Division Major Crimes Unit.

On Wednesday, both were arrested.

He's charged with reckless driver causing a collision with a person on a bicycle, obstructing, resisting and conspiracy.

She's charged with failure to report and conspiracy.

The investigation will be submitted to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office for review.

Nevada Highway Patrol has released the name of the bicyclist who died after being hit by a car on US-395A early Saturday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. on US-395 Alternate and Washoe County mile marker 1.

The Washoe Valley resident died on scene.

The crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - NHP Case #210601467
