A highway in eastern Nevada has reopened after a semi-truck rolled over and spilled dangerous chemicals into a creek.
The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office says a double tanker truck tipped on SR 766 north of Carlin Wednesday closing the road there for almost 24 hours.
The EPA says the tanker was carrying 5,300 gallons of sulfuric acid, 3,000 of which spilled into Maggie Creek.
That creek flows into the Humboldt River.
The agency says it will now take samples of the water to check for contamination.
The truck driver was hospitalized, but only had minor injuries.
