A former Washoe County School District substitute teacher was sentenced to prison this week after he pleaded guilty to having sex with a student.Â
Authorities say 41-year-old Darrell Wayne Baldwin was sentenced to prison on Monday. He pleaded guilty in October to the crime of being a school employee and engaging in sex with a student.
On Transparent Nevada, a website that lists Washoe County School District (WCSD) employee salaries, he was listed as a substitute teacher for elementary/secondary education.
The Washoe County School District says the Reno Police Department handled the investigation.
They said when they found out, WCSD took immediate action to prevent the man from substituting at any school in the district.
WCSD says the safety and security of students and staff is their highest priority, and they will work with Reno Police to help any victims involved.
