With winter like weather on the way, many folks are now looking to supply stores for the items that will keep them warm at home and safe on the roads.
Tim Carter, the owner of Carter Bros. Ace Hardware, says there are many ways to prepare any home for the cold.
“It all changes now, now its weather stripping, space heaters, snow shovels are ready as soon as the snow hits," says Carter.
He says every year; many of his customers remember the importance of sealing up their homes to keep them warm. But there are a few little things that seem to sneak by folks as the cold weather creeps up.
“Turn the water off to your sprinkler system now, that's the thing that everybody forgets to do," says Carter.
It's not just homes that need to be ready for winter like weather; winterizing cars will help keep drivers safe on the roads.
Ian Butler with O’Reilly Auto Parts says things like tire chains, injector cleaner and ice scrapers will be flying off the shelves in the coming months. But he says the most important thing to watch out for is the battery in a car.
"Corrosion is an issue especially with the moisture in the air, anything like that it's good to get cleaned up that way it doesn't kill your battery prematurely, that way you don't have to buy a battery when you don't have to," says Butler.
