Go Red Lunch and Learn

The American Heart Association teamed up with REMSA to teach people how to help in case of a cardiac arrest.

The monthly Go Red Lunch and Learn event is intended to bring awareness to heart issues.

Since October is Sudden Cardiac Awareness Month, participants learned how to administer hands only CPR and how to use an AED to help save a life.

Organizers say it’s important to learn these skills as most cardiac arrests happen at home.

"So it could be their family members that have a cardiac arrest. So we want to empower them with the skills and knowledge of giving good CPR,” says Alma Marin, Public Education Coordinator, American Heart Association.

Participants also learned how to become a citizen responder by using the PulsePoint app, which as we've showed you before, alerts you when there is a cardiac event near your location.
