A very generous good Samaritan paid off layaway items for 150 people at Walmart off of Second Street this week.
One act of kindness is going to have a huge impact on dozens of people this holiday season, when they find out all of their layaway items were paid for.
"They paid for the entire list, they said I want to do this for this specific store. I know this store is in a rougher area, and I want to make sure those associates and those customers have a great Christmas," says Store Manager John Brown.
"It was a lot of toys, a lot of electronic items, a lot of appliances, a lot of furniture, things like that for about $30,000 dollars," says Brown.
The holidays an be a stressful time for a lot of people as they work to pay for gifts, so they put gifts on layaway to make smaller payments overtime.
It's why this act of generosity means so much.
Last year another anonymous person did the same thing, but there's no way to tell if this is the same person. But those who have been impacted couldn't be more thankful.
"I heard about someone doing this last year, and I didn't even think about that. I just thought this can't happen to me," says gift recipient Harry Tanouye.
Tanouye says he was going to buy a TV for his wife for Christmas, but put it on layaway because he couldn't afford it until his next paycheck.
When he went in to ask for an extension he was lost for words when he found out what had happened.
"This lady, way beyond generosity actually. I can't thank her enough," says Tanouye.
He says the world would be a better place if more people were like this.
"It makes me feel all chocked up. There should be more generous people like that. Then the whole world would be happy," says Tanouye.
Walmart officials say anyone can come in and say they want to help pay for layaways, and they'd be more than happy to do so.
