Gumball 3000 Supercar Rally Rolls Through Reno

As it journeys from Stockholm to Las Vegas, the 2015 Gumball 3000 global supercar rally will start off its U.S. leg at the Reno Arch in Downtown Reno. After disembarking from their flight on Gumball Air, participants get a chance to show off their cars and line up to pass under Reno arch.

Fans can cheer on their favorite Gumball 3000 drivers at the stop point—participants this year include actor David Hasselhoff, electronic musician deadmau5, model Tyson Beckford and more. Car enthusiasts can also play paparazzi to the souped-up cars that are (for some) the biggest stars of the show. The rally will travel on to San Francisco after the photo op. Admission to the event is free.

Starting at approximately 5 pm, Reno PD Traffic Officers will be escorting participants with the Gumball 3000 from Atlantic Air Services on the East side of the airport on Rock Blvd southbound towards Longley Lane to Peckam and so on following the route.

Once in downtown area, the vehicles will be positioned for a photo under the Reno Arch which will block off Virginia Street both North and South traffic for hopefully no more than an hour.

Traffic delays are expected from 5pm to no later than 9pm.

The rally runs from Stockholm to Las Vegas, passing through Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Reno, San Francisco and Los Angeles along the way. The seven-day rally will feature uber-rare sportscars, hybrid futurecars and vintage vehicles as well as celebrity drivers.
