High School Senior Graduates with Canine Companion

For many seniors, graduating from high school can be a very proud yet overwhelming experience.

For one Damonte Ranch student, some of that pressure was taken off on Saturday when he graduated with the help from a furry friend.

Ben Sharp has cerebral palsy and must always use a wheel chair to get around.

Sharp says seven months ago he was matched with Edge, an assistance dog who comes from the non-profit organization called Canine Companions for Independence.

"This is the team, until he retires we have a dynamic duo here," says Sharp.

Edge can pick items up for Ben, help him turn lights on and off, and even pull his wheelchair.

"If I was in this big of a crowd without Edge, I would just be a mess but he's here and he is just a dog and he's good and it's great," says Sharp.

Sharp says now that he has graduated, he can't wait to learn how to drive and he hopes to someday become an actor.
