Spring break is here, and we have some ideas for kids of all ages who are out of school for the next two weeks.
Each day of the week the Discovery Museum will have something interactive for kids indoors. And there's also the Idlewild Park Train that opened back up, just in time for spring break.
Joyclyn Howell, a parent rode the train and said, "Tons of fun, that was awesome. Such a great thing for parents and families to come over and do. Plus a little park next to it makes it really nice for families to get together and do something fun for the day."
The train has been chugging around Idlewild Park since 1963. It goes around the most scenic parts of the park and loops around one of the ponds. The cost to ride is only $2 per person. Children under the age of 2 can ride for free on the lap of a parent or guardian.
Train rides will be available from 11 to 3 p.m. every day of spring break, through Sunday, April 3.
There's also the Discovery Museum in downtown. Kids can visit the monster fish exhibit with life size replicas, the maker space to build projects, and other interactive activities throughout the building.
One parent we talked to brought his daughter so she could explore.
Michael Moran, a parent said, "It's a great safe environment for kids to come and we have a great time being able to bring her here and have fun with a whole bunch of other kids."
The Discovery Museum will be open 7 days a week from 10 to 5 p.m., except on Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. And on Wednesdays they're open until 8 p.m.
