Lovelock Man Sentenced To Nine Years In Prison For Assault

The United States Attorney's Office, District of Nevada reports a Lovelock Paiute tribe member was sentenced on Tuesday to nine years in prison for assaulting a man with a broken glass lamp.

Rafael Alfonso Medina Jr., 29, pleaded guilty to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

On January 1, 2016, Medina Jr. repeatedly assaulted a man using a broken glass table lamp on his head, arms and body in Lovelock within the exterior boundaries of the Lovelock Indian Reservation.

The victim was air lifted to a hospital in Reno and suffered severe blood loss which required a blood transfusion, an amputation of a finger and staples and sutures for his injuries.
