Mamas Fur A Cause Raising Money For Charity

It was girls night out for several mothers in Reno, Saturday night. Local non-profit Mamas Fur a Cause hosted a dinner and silent auction at Napa Sonoma. The event was sold out for the night.

"We decided that this would be an opportunity for moms to get ready, to feel sexy and to show up for their community and meet like-minded women in their community." said Sabrina McCool.

Raphaela Cohee said, "Moms don't really find a lot of excuses just to be with their friends, let loose, and just connect with each other and just talk about the hard things that happen in motherhood. So tonight was all about just bringing those moms together and giving them a good excuse to not have mom-guilt, to get dressed up and have a good time together."

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Awaken Reno. Awaken is a local faith-based non-profit organization whose mission is to increase awareness and education surrounding the issue of commercial sexual exploitation and to provide housing and restoration for its victims.

Jen Robinson, the co-founder of Awaken and its youth intervention director said, "We know this issue is actually affecting our community; this is why we get dirty and fight. We have a drop-in center, we have a transitional home and we have case managers and mentors that come alongside the women and girls to help them achieve dreams and goals for themselves that they never dreamed possible."
