Officials say a man has been convicted of home invasion, coercion and false imprisonment from an incident that happened in May 2016.
The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office announced that Ashley Glynn Branch, a 35-year-old from Reno, was found guilty on Monday afternoon on one count of Home Invasion, one count of Coercion with Physical Force or Immediate Threat of Physical Force and one count of False Imprisonment.Â
Police say that on May 15, 2016, they responded to a report of domestic violence in Stead. Officers say that when they arrived, they contacted Branch and the victim, who was Branch's estranged wife. Reno Police say that Branch had a current extended protection order against him and he had broken into the victim's home through the back door. Authorities say that once he was inside, Branch threatened the victim and forced her to his nearby parked car and then back into the house where he refused to let her leave. Officials say the victim was able to get a message to a relative who called police. When officers arrived on the scene, they say Branch was chasing the victim as she was running from the home.Â
The DA's office says Branch will be sentenced on October 27 and he could face up to 26 years in prison.
