A 68-year-old man is behind bars after contacting a 13-year-old boy on the internet and shared sexually explicit photos. Â
Ted Duarte was arrested earlier this month and booked into the Washoe County Jail on three child sex-related charges.Â
Police say Duarte knew of the boy's age when he contacted the victim online.Â
The investigation started in March 2020 when police learned the victim was active on several websites commonly used by adults to find dating partners.Â
Duarte is being held in jail without bail.Â
The Reno Police Department would like to encourage parents to monitor their children’s social media accounts and to have open and honest discussions about the dangers of Child Predators.
