A man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for passport fraud.
Alberto Jacinto-Rios, 46, will be deported from the United States following his prison sentence.
In April 2018, he pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated identity theft.
On March 6, 2017, Jacinto-Rios applied for a U.S. passport at the University of Nevada, Reno. He used the name, date of birth, social security number and birth certificate of a U.S. citizen.Â
The application was referred to the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) because a passport and passport card had been previously issued.
Jacinto-Rios was identified and was arrested on the same day he was indicted in December of 2017.
(The U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Nevada, contributed to this report).
