Microsoft Employees Volunteer for Nonprofits

More than 100 Microsoft Reno employees took to the streets in Midtown and downtown Friday morning to volunteer their time at a few local nonprofits.

Volunteers provided the muscle behind a number of tasks including pulling weeds, painting buildings and fences, and picking up trash along the river and at Wingfield Park in order to help out Artown, the cube at Midtown, and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful.

They also organized thousands of event fliers and hung promotional banners around the area.

"You know this is a great day of work for us. It's often we're behind keyboards, so we're really excited to be out doing something physical. I've been very happy about what we've been able to do,” says David Hollan.

The event was put on in partnership with the Biggest Little City campaign. Microsoft employees planned the event to coincide with national volunteer week which runs through tomorrow.
