The weather can change rather quickly in Nevada, going from hot to cold, sunny to stormy. Seems like just yesterday temperatures were in the 80’s and now we’ve already seen our first frost and freeze at the Reno Airport. Fall is a lot of people’s favorite season around here and I can see why. The forecast the next few days calls for highs around 70 degrees and lows in the 30’s. Lots of sunshine is in the forecast as well with some changes coming toward the end of next week.
At this time the past few years we’ve seen temperatures as chilly as the low 60’s to the low 80’s like last year. In the fall months we can see just about everything as the atmosphere goes from summer mode to winter mode. Thanks to our dry air we tend to cool off pretty quick at night too. According to history our first measurable snowfall at the Reno Airport is November 20th, and it doesn’t look like we’ll see any of the white stuff in Reno anytime soon.Â
While we’ve been experiencing nice weather here, other parts of the country are already getting a taste of winter. Abilene, Texas for example has been in the 40’s the past few days which is almost unheard of there for this time of year. Parts of the Northern Plains have also had one of their coldest starts to October on record. Parts of Texas are also getting hammered with flooding.
The average max temperature in Reno for this time of year is about 70 degrees, but that goes down to the mid 50’s in November and the mid 40’s in December. The average low in December is about 25 degrees. Most places in the country see their first snowfall in November; except places like the southeast which rarely even gets any snow. Not expecting any snow at the Reno Airport the next few days but temperatures will be cold at night with lows in the 30's. Have a great weekend.Â
