Rock Blvd. between Oddie Blvd. and Greenbrae Dr. to close this weekend

The Nevada Department of Transportation has closed a small section of SR-342, due to an increase of cracks and dips in the roadways.

Transportation officials say the area affected is a two-mile stretch, just north of Silver City, near Devil's Gate and Gold Hill.

They are advising drivers to detour onto SR-341.

Officials say it was done as a precautionary measure, especially in light of recent rainfall.

Late last week, crews applied fresh sealant to the affect areas and Comstock Mining helped remove 2000 tons of dirt near the roadway to help mitigate the problems.

Teams will continue to monitor the roadway, but it is unclear when the section will be re-opened.
