Nevada gambling regulators say casinos again exceeded $1 billion in winnings during March, but the figure was relatively unchanged compared with the same month a year ago.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported Thursday that casino "gaming win" statewide was $1.02 billion last month.

That's about the same as March 2018 and represented a slight uptick compared with February 2019.

Las Vegas Strip casinos accounted for more than half the total, although house winnings there decreased almost 4% in the year-to-year comparison, to about $552 million.

Several other parts of Clark County and the South Lake Tahoe area each reported increases of 8% or more.

Reno area casinos made nearly $50 million.

The report says the state reaped almost $80 million in percentage fees based on March figures. That was up 6.3% from a year ago.
