Reno Police Department Warns of Ongoing Phone Scam

The Reno Police Department says a new scam is going around targeting therapists.

Officials said victims will receive a call from a spoofed Reno Police number and the caller identifies themselves as an officer.

They said the caller informs the victim there is a warrant for the arrest due to failure to appear to testify, but they won't clarify the court date. The caller will request payment of some form to resolve the alleged issue.

The Reno Police Department is warning residents not to provide any credit card, gift card, debit card or bank information no matter how much the caller threatens you.
