Records to beat

For the first time this year, Reno has the chance of reaching 70 degrees at the airport. It will feel like spring through the weekend, with highs reaching ten to fifteen degrees above average. There is a 60% chance of Reno reaching 70 degrees on Friday. Granted, cloud cover will limit the odds of breaking records. The record to beat on Friday is 74 and Reno will likely miss it by several degrees. It will be a warm start too.

Odds of 70 degrees in Reno

While it will feel like spring the next few days, one could argue it’s felt that way for the majority of 2026. Winter clothes were a must last week though with highs about fifteen degrees below average, when we struggled to get out of the 30’s. Highs have been above average 18 out of the past 30 days.

Departure from average

According to the Western Regional Climate Center, on average, most of Washoe County saw temperatures at least a few degrees above normal since the end of January. Not quite as warm in Lyon, Pershing, and Churchill counties, but still a little bit above average as a whole.

The difference is even more significant since the end of November, with eastern Nevada seeing average temperatures about several degrees above normal over the past 90 days.
