The Placer County Sheriff's Office wants to remind river floaters that alcohol is banned from the Truckee River for the next few days.
The ban went into effect today, July 1, and continues through July 6.
According to a recent Facebook post from PCSO, the ban covers open containers in or along the river between Tahoe City to the Alpine Meadows Bridge.
River access points will also have signs erected to educate recreators of the ban.
Refusal to cooperate with the alcohol ban can result in fines anywhere from $150 for a first offense all the way to $1,000 for a third offense.
