A boy has died after a fall while climbing in the area of the Eagle Falls Trailhead near Emerald Bay.

Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, officers from allied law enforcement, and emergency medical personnel responded to the incident around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff.

The boy, identified on a GoFundMe Page set up in his honor as Noah Ortega-Pourol Wiley, was found around 400 yards from the trailhead, suffering from traumatic injuries sustained in the fall.

Deputies and medical personnel on scene tried lifesaving measures, but Wiley died from his injuries.

"To know Noah was to feel true happiness, his infectious smile and ability to keep us laughing will be deeply missed by all. Noah was your typical boy, full of energy and chasing adventure. You'd often find him playing sports, cheering on his beloved Raiders and spending time with his friends and family," said a message on the GoFundMe page set up in Wiley's honor. "This sudden loss has left his family and friends in deep shock and overwhelming grief. No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child, especially so suddenly."

The Lake Tahoe Unified School District released a statement about Wiley's death on Friday evening.

The boy was a sophomore at South Tahoe High School.

"Our hearts are with Noah’s family, friends, and all who are impacted by this loss. We hold them in our thoughts and extend our deepest condolences as they navigate this unimaginable grief," said the district in its statement.
