ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
A bear has been euthanized in the South Lake Tahoe area after breaking into a locked trailer and attacking the woman inside.
In a post on Facebook, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said the bear had a long history of human conflict, including multiple home invasions and vehicle break-ins.
Over the weekend, the CDFW says the bear broke into a locked, occupied trailer at 4:30 a.m. at Emerald Bay State Park and swiped at a camper inside, sending her to the hospital.
The bear's two cubs have been safely captured and taken to a wildlife rehabilitation facility where it’s hoped they eventually can be returned to the wild.
The bear was euthanized by the CDFW and California State Parks.
