The Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook Off is now in the books after days of serving up tasty barbecue.
The event might be over, but celebrations are just getting started for some after winners were crowned.
This year, Chicago B.B.Q. is taking the trophy for best ribs back home with them.
We got a chance to speak with them, and they shared how much this moment means for the entire family. The Chicago B.B.Q. team told us, "This is the first year my uncle wasn't able to handle it. He was a founder. He was the heart and soul of a lot of these times, and he helped a lot of these people learn how to do it, so it means so much to us to do this for him."
We also got a chance to speak with the winners for best sauce this year, and they told us how proud they are of themselves for the accomplishment.
They said participating in these cook offs has become a family tradition, and being able to take over the success is something they've always dreamt of.
Big Daddy's Sin City BBQ’s team said, "My grandpa finally let me in charge. He put me in charge to make all the sauce, and honestly, I was super nervous. I was thinking, are the people going to like it? Am I not gonna make it right?’ And he put all his faith in me, and I mean, the trophy speaks for itself."
After talking to many vendors throughout this whole event, one thing that was constantly shared was the appreciation they have for this community.
They say each year they're amazed by all the people that come and show support and love towards what they do.
They told us the best part is getting to speak with their customers and hear for themselves how much they loved their ribs.
Big Daddy's Sin City BBQ team said, "When I go back in the front and restock the load, and I see all my people, my community ordering food and being happy, with every bite they take from the sauce, it just feels amazing.''
They tell us the six full days of energy throughout the event, with nonstop lines of people excited to try the food, can be a lot to handle at times, but seeing how much love everyone has for ribs pushes them to continue.
Big Daddy's Sin City BBQ team also told us, "It’s mainly the sauce getting on the clothing. The batter mix for the bread, getting all over your clothes like a sticky mess. So it truly is harder on us, but it feels amazing at the end of the day, knowing that our people are well served and fed.”
Vendors told us they finish one season and leave even more excited for the next year to do it all over again.
