Gray wolf

NDOW says it has learned that a GPS-collared wolf has crossed into Nevada from California.

On Monday morning, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife notified NDOW about the wolf's location in the high-elevation Sierras, north of Lake Tahoe between Mount Rose and Mount Houghton - away from developed areas or communities.

NDOW tells 2 News Nevada that the wolf is currently moving in the north part of the Carson Range.

"Historically, wolves detected in Nevada have been dispersing individuals from neighboring states. These animals typically move through remote areas of the state briefly before moving out of the state," says NDOW.

NDOW is coordinating with CDFW to receive general location updates.Â
