PG&E has announced a precautionary Public Safety Power Shutoff for western Sierra County this weekend, due to wildfire risks.

The power shutoff will happen at around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18.

The affected communities include:

  • Bassetts / Gold Lake
  • Green Acres
  • Sierra City
  • Downieville
  • Goodyears
  • Indian Valley
  • Pike
  • Alleghany
 
Weather conditions should improve around 2:00 pm. on Saturday, October 19. PG&E asks customers to be aware that power restoration may not be immediate.
 
After the severe weather passes, PG&E will inspect power lines and equipment before restoring power.
 
Residents and visitors should expect the outage to last several days.
 
To prepare, you can take the following steps:
 
  • Charge your devices and backup batteries.
  • Stock up on non-perishable food and water.
  • Have flashlights and emergency supplies nearby.
  • Ensure your generator (if you have one) is ready to use safely.
