Officers are warning of a new scam making the rounds, this time with a person posing as an agent from the U.S. Marshals Office.
South Lake Tahoe Police say they got a call from U.S. Bank on Friday, where a scammer directed someone to withdraw the entirety of their money from their bank account in cash.
They would then pick up the money to supposedly support the U.S. Marshals.
The caller ID showed the number of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
Officers are again warning people of technology that scammers may use to manipulate caller IDs.
They also remind people that no legitimate government agency will ever call and request cash to support their operations.
