A snowmobiler became stranded over the weekend after getting separated from his riding partner, and inadvertently riding deep into a canyon.
The rider went missing northeast of Bonta Saddle on Saturday, March 1.
Sierra County Search and Rescue was mobilized quickly after receiving the call of the missing rider. They deployed a hasty team after being able to grab the missing rider's GPS location using Apple satellite communication.
The team located the stranded rider in the rugged terrain, and assisted him in hiking out to a safer location, where he was transported to a snowcat. Then, he was brought back to his vehicle.
Sierra County wants to thank the Nevada County Search and Rescue team for their assistance, and Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue for providing additional personnel.
