Information has been released by the City of South Lake Tahoe regarding a SWAT standoff that happened today.
At around 1:25 a.m. on June 17, officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to a call for service regarding a domestic dispute.
As officials investigated, they learned that one of the people involved in the dispute, 37-year-old Brandon James Brown, was suspected of multiple violations, including assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, false imprisonment and more.
Officers tried to get in contact with Brown, who refused to surrender.
At that point, the SLTPD SWAT Team was activated, and a search warrant was issued for the scene.
Brown barricaded himself inside his home as negotiators tried to contact him, and eventually contact was established.
Tahoe Keys Boulevard was closed temporarily during the incident, and a few nearby homes were evacuated out of caution.
At around 9:20 a.m., officials were able to take Brown into custody without using any force.
Brown has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail, and law enforcement adds that there are no further threats to the community related to this particular incident.
