Winter storms have brought chain controls and road closures to roads throughout the Sierra.
I-80 is closed at the California state line until Hirschdale Road, where chain controls take effect until just north of Baxter.
A section of Highway 89 is closed as well in the area around Emerald Bay, with chain controls in place north of that closure.
Chain controls are also in place on Mount Rose Highway, U.S. 50, Kingsbury Grade, and on I-580 through Washoe Valley.
There is also a high wind advisory through Washoe Valley, with vehicles over nine feet prohibited.
Chain controls are also in effect on State Route 267 and State Route 88.
