On September 29, 2023, around 10 p.m., detectives with the Special Enforcement Team (SET) of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) conducted a traffic stop on a Mazda sedan for a cracked windshield and no front license plate as it traveled south on Interstate 580, approaching South Carson Street in Carson City, Nevada.
It led to the arrest of a fugitive with two felony warrants and a drug trafficker who was transporting methamphetamine and heroin.
When their car was searched, detectives found a Nevada ID forgery lab with laptops and a printer in the trunk, along with numerous blank ID's in the center console and a false identification with Monica’s photo but a different name.
The driver, Monica Main, 43, identified herself using a Nevada identification card.Â
The detectives identified the passenger as 56-year-old Kyle Leak and discovered he had two felony 'Fugitive from Justice' warrants out of California for $100,000 and $50,000 bail.
Monica admitted she had had previous drug use. That's when detectives had a CCSO K9 unit respond and when the dog got there, it alerted the detectives that narcotics were present. That's when detectives searched the car.
Detectives noticed Monica had been fumbling her hands in the middle of her torn seat and, upon further investigation, found a shard of methamphetamine weighing about half a gram. In the trunk, the detectives found the printer and two laptops, which Monica was suspected to be used to print the fake identifications.
While Monica and Kyle were both being arrested, the detectives discovered Monica had a Ziploc bag containing about 127 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of heroin, and a glass methamphetamine pipe.
Kyle Leake was arrested for the two Fugitive from Justice warrants.
Monica Main was arrested for Forgery, Possession of Document Identifying Information to Establish False Identity, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
