As winter storms wind their way through the Sierra and northern Nevada, a number of chain controls have popped up on area roads.
Chains are required on I-80 from California 89 to Drum Forebay Road, on California 89 from I-80 to Olympic Valley Road, California 89 from Tahoma to Lake Forest Road and on U.S. 50 from California 89 to Pyramid Creek Road.
Chains are also required on Mt. Rose Highway from Old Mt. Rose Highway State Route 28, on California 267 from Northstar Drive to California 28, on State Route 207 from U.S. 50 to State Route 206 and on California 88 from California 89 to Ellis Road.
Chains or snow tires are required on Geiger Grade Road from mile marker ST-4 to Mile Marker ST-9, as well as on California 89 from Prosser Dam Road to Sierraville as well as from Tahoe City to Olympic Valley Road and from Eagle Falls to One Ring Road.
Chains or snow tires are also needed on State Route 28 from U.S. 50 to Lake Forest Road, on U.S. 50 from mile marker CC-6 to the California border and on California 89 from Sierra Drive to Tahoma.
California 89 is closed from Valhalla Road to Eagle Falls.
