On Saturday, May 11, many people dove into the world of pedal boating.

The Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Reno hosted a pilot program at Virginia Lake Park to see if it would be a hit.

These boats were coming in and out of the dock all morning and afternoon.

People seemed really excited about getting out on the water.

The Vice Mayor of Reno, Naomi Duerr, spoke about the city's plans for this pilot program.

"In this case we're doing this nine to four as a trial, again. We want to see what the demand is and what the challenges are," said Duerr. "But it's absolutely gorgeous day, the sun is shining, it couldn't be more perfect weather to try out something like this. We encourage everyone to come on down."

Duerr also said that this is a test run to see if it would be worth expanding and putting these boats on other lakes in parks around the city.

The watercrafts hold up to four people and are rather easy to pedal.

As for the prices, for an hour it is 35 dollars and for half an hour it is 25 dollars.

People seemed pleasantly surprised about the pedal boats.
