The Nevada Division of Forestry says 14 firefighters showed signs of an allergic reaction while fighting the Egberts Fire in Elko County this week.

NDF says the affected firefighters were assessed in the field and transported to a local area hospital, where they were treated and released the same day. There is no threat to public health and safety at this time.

Crews are working to contain an agricultural burn that escaped containment lines, in the Clover Valley area of the county.

The 650-acre fire started around 1:45 p.m. on Memorial Day, south of Wells, in the east Humboldt Range. It's currently 95% contained.

According to fire officials, agricultural burning is a tactic used by ranchers to reduce fuel, improve grazing conditions and help lower wildfire risk.

Fire crews will stay at the scene over the next several days.
